Help a Courier or Tow Truck Find Your Country Home or Location

.Moped

If you live outside of a city, a new-build or have broken down in the middle of nowhere it may be very hard to explain where you are.

This isn't just about getting products to you. Ambulances, police and tow trucks may need to find you and if it's an emergency lives depend on finding you.

If we are connected on Facebook Messenger the quickest and easiest way to share our location to you or for you to disclose your location to us for a limited period of 60 minutes is to:

1) Press the 4 dots in Messenger

2) Press the arrow and start sharing for 60 minutes

Our Sat Nav works in GPS. We use a convertor for What3words to GPS.

GPS are now decimal numbers. In the Southwest of England these numbers look like 50.123456 -4.123456. This means 50°N & 4°W. The decimals define that square to 1m square.

OS Grid is the least helpful. Post codes can get within 200 square meters in the UK. What3words describes 3 square meters anywhere on Earth. GPS coordinates describe 1 square meter on Earth.

Everyone now carries a phone. A phone can find you by "masting" off of towers on Earth. This isn't helpful when you're in a valley in the country and the towers are on the other side of the hill. Sat Navs "mast" from satellite systems miles above the Earth. Sat Navs should always know where you are EXCEPT in a tunnel or cave, they then estimate where you last were with direction of travel and speed.

So let's find you.

1) Open Google Maps app

2) You should see a map of your current location with a blue dot.

Map1

3) This map is kinda' useless when you're broken down on a nameless road. If you live in a city in a new-build cross streets help. What we really need is the GPS.

4) Put your finger as close to the blue dot as you can to get a "red marker".

5) Notice the numbers circled in red on the top left of the map. THOSE ARE THE NUMBERS WE NEED. Any other data you can supply will help, but we drove 50 miles to recover the motorcycle pictured above with nothing more than GPS coordinates. We found it hidden behind a hedge exactly where it was supposed to be.

If you're in the country you may not be able to get signal. If you own a Sat Nav Google how to find your current GPS coordinates. There are too many brands of Sat Navs and too many variants of each brand to explain each method. If you can't get a signal try to find a "high point".

People who live in the country or a new build estate should carry a cut and paste in their phone their name, mailing address, phone number, What3words and GPS data to save time and help people/couriers finding them.

There have been numerous incidents where police have been called because we hover around country properties looking for the right homes not properly labelled with building names. Help us help you.
